It’s been a while in South Korea, since the ‘mad cow incident’ has blamed on the society. People are mad with the government’s actions with U.S, and also scared of the effects that might happen on them. Also, the government didn’t seem to do a good job with trying to calm down the citizens of Korea. This led to impeaching the newly elected President MyungBak- Lee. Before even trying to state my argument, I’m not trying to cover up for the president or to share my personal political view. The only concern I have is for the people of Korea to have critical viewpoints to 2MB.
Many people, especially on the Internet, have been arguing with 2MB with his intentions with policy. Of course many would agree it’s too early to see if he’s right or wrong, but it seems to be an agreement that he didn’t seem explain enough for the people. Especially with the Mad Cow incident, there are so many rumors out there; it’s not easy to see what’s true and what’s not. Well, my point is not to seek or to grade on his policy, as I said, it’s to see what we should to as citizens of South Korea.
I think we should try to understand what actually is going around in the congress, not to see only the surface of the policy. Yes, the mad cow can be dreadful to Koreans, but is that all? The objection has been going on vigorously against the announcement, but it seems that everyone is too much focusing on the mad cow. Sure, some might say that health is the no.1 thing to consider, but have we thought about the reason we need to import U.S cows or other cows. I’ve just come to Korea, and read only 2 newspapers. Before, I’d been only catching up with the Internet news day after day. Today’s paper had a article about the mad cow disease, which related section was about 5pages long. One of the article said: “considering the moment, we need to import cow meat.” I agree with this statement, but why? And if this is the truth the policy makers should’ve tried to convince the people with strong evidence to calm the people down. However, it didn’t happen. Also, we have to know this rage about mad cow, must have some connection with the apposing party. As citizens we should have the power to look beyond the surface and capture what’s beneath the visual eyes. We are becoming blind to the issue that there are more reasons to consider of the new president of Korea and to deal with others. However we seem to narrow our visions to the mad cow. 2MB started to change a lot as he became the president and the mad cow is only one of the debatable ones. The entire cow incident seems to the only topic to focus on the news. Is this right? I’ve got no answer to that.

이명박 대통령이 부임한지 얼마 안되어 여러가지 일을 바꾸고 그리고 여러가지 일을 해왔다. 그가 어떤일이 잘했던 못했던, 아직은 이른 시기에 그것을 판단할수있다고는 생각하지 않는다. 어차피 정책을 바꾸거나 새로운 정책을 내놓으면 후세에 판단되기 마련이니까. 하지만, 이번에 광우병 사태는 정말 재미있는 사건이 아닐까란 생각을 해본다. 글을 쓰기전에 한비는 한가지를 말하고싶다. 한비는 이글을 통해서 이명박 대통령을 지지한다던가, 아니면 반대한다던가의 글을 쓸려는것이 아니라 한비는 다만, 우리가 한국의 국민으로써 가추어야할 비평적인 사고가 있지 않을까란 생각을 해본다.
이제 한국에 온지 하루되었다. 비행기 안에서 읽은 신문하나, 어린이날이라고 아침에 배달해온 신문하나늘 읽은 것이 전부다. 그전에는 미국에서 인터넷 신문을 통해 간간히 업데이트를 하고 있었다. 광우병이 잘되었다라거나 아니면 수입을 해야한다는 것은 아니다. 하지만, 이상하게도 광우병 일로 사람들이 모두 거기에 집중되어있는 시선이 재미있게 느껴졌을 뿐이다. 이것은 아마..-_- 교육공부를 하면서 사회의 형성이라던가 구조에 대해서 공부하다보니 생기는 일같다..-ㅅ-...아아 본문으로 돌아와서, 물론 건강 이슈이니 그만큼 큰일처럼 느껴지는것이고 우리가 민감하게 반응한다는것에 대해서는 동의 한다. 그리고 그런 반응이 잘못되었다거나 그런것은 아니니까....
하지만 궁금한것은 모든 사건이 너무 한쪽에 치우쳐저 있다는 것이다. 마치 광우병사태로 이명박 탄핵까지 말이 나오고 그리고 그것이 대통령을 판단하는 잣대가 되어버린 느낌이다. 물론 그 전에 교육정책이라던가 다른 정책에서 시간되어서 광우병에서 결국 터졌다는 느낌이든다. 그래도 우리가 뽑아놓은 대통령인데, 광우병 한가지로 너무 맹목적으로 판단하지 않나란 생각도 해본다.
신문을 읽다보니 한 4~5면정도가 광우병과 관련된 기사만 나와있다. 그중 오늘 신문에서 본것은 이 시기에 소를 수입했어야 하는 시기였고 그리고 광우병감염에 대해서 과잉보도가 되었다는 글을 보았다. 그렇다면, 그것에 대해서 좀 자세하게 설명을 해주면 안되는 것이였을까? 그냥 간단하게 써놓고 마니 내가 봐도 일을 급급하게 수습할려는 사태에 불과한 행동으로 느껴진다. 개인적으로는 이명박 대통령이 무리한 정책이나 사건을 일이켰다라기보다는 정치적 대응이 꽤나 부족했다는 느낌이 든다. 건강에 민감한 국민인 만큼 소를 수입해야 하는 이유며 그리고 그 광우병에 대한 진실은 무엇이며, 그런것이 안되어 있다보니 일명 괴담형식으로 인터넷에 글이 퍼지지 않나싶다. 또한가지는 우리는 그렇다하더라도 비평적인 사고를 가져야 한다고 생각한다. 여기서 비평과 비난은 다른것이라고 말하고싶다. 비평은 일명 평하는것이고 비난은 쏟아 붇는것이다 -_-. 비평적사고를 가져야 한다는것은 실제로 표면에 나타난 것보다는 그 안에서 있는 진실을 알아가는것, 그리고 쉽게말해 한번더 의심을 해보는것으로 생각하면 되지 않을까? 광우병 사태에 관련된 촛불시위나 인터넷 서명운동이나 보면 대다수가 10대 20대 초반이 많다고 하더라. 2가지를 생각해 볼수있다. 1. 과연 10대 20대들뿐이였을까? 아직 사회적으로 '어른'이라고 하기 힘든 나이대 사람들을 몰아 세울려는것은 아닐까? 2. 10대 20대들이 대부분 이였다고 하면, 실제 '두뇌'는 누굴까? 그 배후에는 누가 있는걸까? 란 생각을 해볼수있다. 반대 당이라던가 아니면 반 이명박 그룹원들이 정치적 놀이를 하고있는것일수도 있다. 더군다나 광우병에 대해서 예전에도 민감하게 반응했던 우리 국민에게 상당히 큰이슈로 언론플레이가 들어갔다는것은 배후에 누가 있는지를 한번 의심해볼 필요가 있다고 생각한다.
뭐 누가 잘했다던가 잘못했다던것이 아니다. 다만 우리가 우리나라를 사랑한다면, 단순히 표면으로 받아 들이기보다는 그 뒤에서 무슨일이 있었는지에 대해서 생각해볼 필요가 있다는것이다. 어차피 일을 진행시킬라고 마음먹으면 진행은 되게되어있다. 그것에 대해서 화내고 시위하고 그러기보다는 오히려 그 진실이 무엇에 있는가에 관심을 가지는것이 어떨까란 생각을 해본다... 그냥 그런생각..-ㅅ-;;;

I mean, if the disease was that widespread, should't all the US/Australian people be dead by now? =_=
It's just disgusting to see how people (and majority of them being at their 10s and 20s) like to flame the president as much as they want to... Leadership isn't a simple thing, you know.
*sigh* I just hope everything will work out the "best" way for everyone.
Exactly, I know it's frustrating for the people, and I know it's something not easy to accept, but we should be able to think outside the box, not only to see what's only there but to see what's actually underneath the whole issue. Mad cow? yes we all know we don't want it, but why is it becoming a huge trend to be anti-2mb?

뭔가를 숨기고 있다고 생각되면 그것에 대한 공포나 추측이나 반작용도 실제 이상으로 훨씬 더 커지기 마련이죠.
"미안하지만 이러저러한 이유로 소고기는 수입 허용해야겠다. 하지만, 조심해서 먹어라."고 했으면 모를까,
"미국소는 (미국에서도 주의해서 쓰도록 규정한 30개월이 넘은 소들까지도?) 절대 안전하다"
고 하니 이에 대해 의문이 증폭되는 것이야 당연한 것이고,
특히 먹거리에 민감한 10대 소녀들이 자극되는 것이야 당연한 것이고,
" 정부 의견에 반대되는 의견을 유포하면 집회건 인터넷 글이건 불법여부를 수사하겠다."
이런 태도로 나온다면 overreaction을 비난할 자격이 2MB는 전혀 없는 거죠.
자신이 그것을 조장하고 있으니 말이죠.
하여간 그 능력있다는 경제대통령 2MB씨가 소고기 시장 내주고 얻어온
실용외교 보따리가 뭔지 그게 참 궁금한데요,
아직까지 보따리도 안 풀고 자랑도 안 하더군요.
평소 성품으로 보아 뭔가가 있다면 조용히 있을 양반이 절대 아닌데 말이죠.
2MB님이 저렇게 바보천치일리는 없고 뭔가 노림수가 있을텐데,
아무래도 이번 소고기 사건으로 온나라를 뒤집어 놓은 다음에
물,전기,의료보험 민영화나 대운하 파기 같은 걸 슬쩍 추진하려는 고도의 술책이 아닐까 한다는... ^^
아직 초반이니 그냥 지켜볼려구요...
그리고 솔직히 2mb보다는 저는 그냥 사람들의 반응이 더 무섭더군요
누가 잘했다 못했다는 아니지만,
